FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: SUBSCRIPTION PLAN
Scenarios - ie: This happened to me last year, will it be covered?
Q. If I call 9-1-1 and I want to go to another hospital besides Saddleback will it be covered?
A. Yes – this service covers all out of pocket expenses. The additional mileage you would normally be billed by your insurance is an additional charge to you the consumer.
Q. If I need an ambulance in an area other than Laguna Woods, Irvine, Laguna Hills, etc. Will it be covered?
A. Only if the Service is provided by Doctor's Ambulance Service. Doctor's Ambulance Service currently has 9-1-1 contracts with the following cities, Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Irvine, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Juan Capistrano and Tustin
Q. If I have a secondary insurance do I need the plan? If so, why?
A. Check with your insurance company, you may still have co-pays and deductibles, or if your insurance denies the payment. If so this service would be a benefit to you. If you have no co-pays or deductibles then you would probably not need the service.
Q. If I fall do I need to call 9-1-1 and will it be covered under the plan or is it still free?
A. Yes. All services must be through 9-1-1 emergency calls.
Q. Will I receive a renewal notice?
A. Yes. 30 days prior to your renewal we will send a renewal notice to you.
Q. Is this a monthly or yearly fee?
A. This is an Annual fee of $50.
Q. What if I have no insurance?
A.Then this program is exactly what you need. It will cover the costs of the 9-1-1 ambulance bill.
Q. Who came up with the idea for this plan?
A. This program was a result of the recent ambulance selection criteria for the city of Laguna Woods. The idea is actually one that came from someplace other than Doctor's Ambulance Service, we have just adopted the concept.
Q. Is this plan the result of the city becoming Laguna Woods?
A. Indirectly-yes. The city council was divided on this program, but the council felt since the plan is optional, each resident could decide if it was something that they would benefit from.
